How to generate a Sheetgo API key

Learn how to create, copy, and revoke a Sheetgo API key from your account page.

Written by Jonatan Gomes

Generating a Sheetgo API key enables you to seamlessly connect Sheetgo workflows with external applications and custom scripts. Follow this step-by-step guide to create, secure, and manage your API keys.

How to generate a Sheetgo API key

  • Locate the API settings

    • Scroll down to the bottom of the Services and Account section.

    • Find the Sheetgo API option.

    • Click the Generate Key button

  • Label, generate, and save your key

    • Enter an optional label in the pop-up window to maintain context when managing multiple keys.

    • Click Generate Key inside the pop-up to reveal your new secret key.

    • Click the Copy button immediately next to the key and save it in a secure location for future reference.

Warning: Once you save and close the window, the full key will never be visible again. To help you identify active keys, Sheetgo will only display the first 2 and last 4 characters.

Creating multiple API keys

You can generate multiple API keys as needed to segment permissions across different services, tools, or development environments. Simply repeat the generation steps above for each new key required.

Note: If you left a key unlabeled during setup or want to change the label, you can rename it at any time without affecting its functionality by clicking the three vertical dots (⋮) beside the key and selecting Rename.

How to revoke API keys

If an API key is no longer needed or if you suspect a security breach, you can revoke keys individually or all at once to prevent unauthorized access.

  • Revoking a single API key

    • Locate the specific API key under the Sheetgo API section on your Account page.

    • Click the three vertical dots (⋮) beside that specific key.

    • Select Revoke Key.

    • Confirm deletion by clicking Yes, revoke in the pop-up window.

  • Revoking all API keys at once

    • In the Sheetgo API section, click the three vertical dots (⋮) located at the top right (next to the Generate key button).

    • Click Revoke all keys.

    • Confirm the action in the pop-up window to immediately deactivate all existing keys associated with your account.
