Using a BigQuery database is an efficient way of aggregating information. With Sheetgo you can use this service in automations not only as a source but as a destination for your data.

For example, you could use Sheetgo to send data from a spreadsheet to BigQuery.

Before getting started

A few things to keep in mind when sending data to a BigQuery database:

  • The source's header must match database structure.

  • Using Sheetgo, you can only append new values to BigQuery tables. It can't delete or update existing information.

Note: To use BigQuery as a destination you must have write permissions to the desired database. Learn how to get permissions for BigQuery.

Send data to a BigQuery database

  1. Create a new Blank workflow.

  2. Under Select source, choose where to get data to send to your database. This could be a Google Sheets, Excel or CSV file, as well as any other supported source. For this example, we will draw data from a Google Sheets file.

  3. Under Add data processor, you can set up a filter to pick the data to send to the database. Otherwise, you can skip this step to send all the data to the BigQuery database.

  4. Under Select a destination, choose BigQuery.

  5. If it's your first time using BigQuery as a destination, you must grant permission to your BigQuery account.

  6. Select the project, dataset, and table to receive the new information. With proper permissions, Sheetgo will find all the projects in your BigQuery database.

  7. Click Done editing, then Finish and Save to create this automation with BigQuery as the destination.

  8. Run the automation to send all the data to the table you selected. If you query your database you will see the new information.
