Start with the status on the workspace card or in the Triggers panel. If the trigger looks active, check which automations it includes, the event or schedule it uses, and your automation credit usage.
The workflow or trigger is inactive
What you see | Why it didn't run | What to do |
"Manual trigger" on the workspace card | The workflow has no active trigger. | Open the trigger settings and turn the switch on. |
The trigger's switch is off, or its row shows "Paused" | A saved trigger with its switch off is dormant. | Turn the switch on. If it stays paused, check the cases below. |
A trigger has no automations | A trigger with no automations doesn't run. Moving automations out of a trigger can leave it empty and pause it. | Add automations to the trigger, then turn it on. |
"Completed" | A one-time trigger ran on its scheduled date and switched itself off. | Use "Run again" and pick a new date. |
"All automations" stays paused
A trigger set to "All automations" stays paused while other triggers exist in the workflow. Sheetgo shows:
"Runs all automations, so it stays paused while other triggers exist. Choose the automations it should run to turn it back on."
Choose the specific automations this trigger should run instead of "All automations".
An automation has a hollow marker
A hollow marker in the Automations panel means:
"Not assigned to any trigger — runs only with Run all automations"
New automations start unassigned. Add the automation to a trigger if you want it to run automatically.
A file or folder trigger didn't respond to a change
The trigger shows "Needs attention"
Google has stopped delivering changes to the trigger.
Open the trigger and save it again to reconnect. Until you reconnect it, this failure is silent: the trigger doesn't run the workflow, report an error, or send a notification.
The trigger looks healthy, but nothing ran
Check whether one of these situations applies:
The change doesn't match a ticked event. Only selected events trigger a run. A rename is not a content change.
The change happened recently. Sheetgo detects changes within a few minutes.
The change arrived while the workflow was running. Sheetgo skips that change rather than queuing it for another run.
The change happened while the trigger was off. Sheetgo never replays changes made while the trigger was off.
You dropped a file into a watched folder that the workflow also writes into. For a short while after a run, Sheetgo may treat that file as the workflow's own output.
For more about these triggers, see Run a workflow when a file or folder changes.
An "On workflow run" trigger switched itself off
Sheetgo disables this trigger if the workflow it watches:
Is no longer accessible or is archived.
Has had its ownership transferred to another user.
The trigger message identifies the reason. Choose another workflow for the trigger to watch.
A monthly schedule skipped a month
A monthly schedule set to day 29, 30, or 31 skips any month that doesn't have that day.
To run at the end of every month, use "On the last day of the month".
Your workflows are paused because of automation credits
Sheetgo pauses workflows when you use all your monthly automation credits with extra usage off, or when you reach your extra-usage budget.
Reason for the pause | How to resume |
You've used your monthly automation credits, and extra usage is off. | Turn on extra usage, or wait until your automation credits reset. |
You've spent your extra-usage budget. | Raise or remove the budget, or wait until your automation credits reset. |
The pause message shows your reset date. To manage extra usage, open the Account page and go to "Plan and usage" → "Extra usage".
See View your automation credit usage for more about usage.
Your plan or permissions prevent activation
Your plan doesn't include the trigger or has reached its limit
Smart triggers require a plan that includes them. Some plans also limit the number of active triggers.
If you see "You've reached the active triggers limit on the {plan name} plan.", you've reached that plan's limit. Check whether your plan includes the trigger you want to use and allows another active trigger.
Sheetgo shows a permissions message
These messages explain which action you can't take:
Message | What it means |
"You cannot enable automatic updates for this type of workflow." | You don't have permission to enable automatic updates for this workflow type. |
"Only the owner of the workflow can make changes to this type of trigger." | The workflow owner must make changes to this trigger. |
"This workflow runs automatically. Only the workflow owner can disable an active trigger." | The trigger is already active. Only the workflow owner can disable it. |
The workflow started but didn't finish
A failure during a run is different from a trigger that never started it. Failure notifications report errors during the run. You can manage them through the bell in the Triggers panel or "Failure notifications" on the Account page.
If "Stop execution upon error" is enabled in "Execution settings", a failure stops the rest of the run. This can explain why later automations didn't run even though the workflow started.
