The Employee Timesheet Management Template helps you automate daily time tracking for your team. Employees can easily submit their working hours, while managers gain real-time visibility into attendance, working patterns, and productivity.
Workflow Overview
This automated workflow connects a form, a central spreadsheet, and a dynamic dashboard.
How it works:
Employees submit daily working hours using the Submit Work Log form.
Data flows automatically to the Employee Timesheet Management spreadsheet.
The Dashboard visualizes key metrics like total hours worked, arrival times, and average lunch breaks.
Steps to use the template
Step 1: Install the Template
Install the template from this link: Employee timesheet management
Once installed, the workflow will open in your Sheetgo workspace at app.sheetgo.com.
You’ll see helpful notes in the right-side panel of your workflow.
👉 Before starting, delete the sample data in the spreadsheets (but keep the headers and formulas).
Step 2: Share with Colleagues
For smooth collaboration:
Share the Submit Work Log form with all employees.
Restrict access to the Employee Timesheet Management spreadsheet for admin users.
Share the Dashboard with management or HR for visibility into work hours and attendance trends.
You can manage access easily from the Sheetgo workspace.
Refer to the following articles to share workflows, forms, dashboard and files:
Step 3: Submit Work Log
Each employee fills out the Submit Work Log form to record their daily activity.
Form fields include:
Date: Automatically captured when submitting the form.
Submitted by: Records the employee’s Sheetgo account email.
Time in: The employee’s starting work time.
Lunch start: When the lunch break begins.
Lunch end: When the lunch break finishes.
Time out: The end of the workday.
Encourage employees to use their official email address to ensure accurate tracking and consistent reporting.
Step 4: Review the Timesheet Spreadsheet
All form submissions are collected automatically in the Employee Timesheet Management spreadsheet. This file contains all data used to generate insights and dashboards.
Timesheet Tab
This is the main data table where all form submissions are recorded. Each row represents a workday for one employee.
The sheet automatically calculates total Hours Worked using time entries from the form.
Do not delete formulas or header rows. If you want to reset the data, clear only the sample entries.
Dashboard Tab
The Dashboard tab in the spreadsheet provides a visual summary of all working hour data.
You can track:
Hours worked per employee
Total hours worked per day
Average arrival time per day and per employee
Average lunch time duration per employee
Note: The timeframe filter on the dashboard allows you to view metrics within a specific date range.
Step 5: Dashboard Insights
The connected Sheetgo Dashboard gives you a real-time visualization of your timesheet data, directly from the spreadsheet.
It helps you track:
Hours worked per employee: Compare total hours logged.
Total hours worked per day: Identify workload trends.
Average arrival time per day and employee: Spot punctuality patterns.
Average lunch time per employee: Understand break behavior.
